Commenting on the release of the Hunter Report and the Minister's commitment to take up the recommendations on the Cardiff Royal Infirmary site, Welsh Lib Dem Assembly Member for Cardiff Central, Jenny Randerson AM said:
"After ten years, it is a huge relief for patients and residents in and around Cardiff that there will finally be action on the CRI site.
"I have argued for many years that the health needs of this part of the city have been largely overlooked and underestimated and the plans of the Trust were totally inadequate to deal with them.
"The Hunter Report fully endorses the view I have taken and at last we are seeing action. I have been working closely with Cardiff Council to ensure that plans for redeveloping the CRI can move ahead smoothly.
"I pressed the Minister over many months on this issue and I am delighted that she has responded so positively to the concerns of me and the people of Cardiff.
