Monthly Purchasing Managers Index shows faster, deeper contraction in Welsh business - Randerson

3.58.00pm GMT Wed 11th Mar 2009

Commenting on the release of the RBS PMI (Purchasing Managers Index) for February which shows that the business activity in Wales last month fell at the fastest rate since the survey began in 2001, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Economy Minister, Jenny Randerson AM said:

"Another month, another set of figures showing how tough things are for Welsh businesses. Input, Employment and Output are still nose-diving.

"We need real action from the Labour-Plaid Government. We need spending on construction projects to stimulate the industry, more flexibility in the schemes to help businesses and a level playing field for Welsh companies when bidding for public sector contracts."
