Jenny Randerson and the Weksh Lib Dems will resist a political takover of Post 16 education

Commenting on the announcement by the WAG Minister for Skills setting up a review of governance arrangements for Further Education Institutions in Wales, Welsh Lib Dem Shadow Economy Minister, Jenny Randerson AM said:

"This announcement seems to confirm the rumours that have been circulating for some time that WAG wants to bring FE governance under the direct control of the Government.

"While I welcome the comprehensive make up of the review group, the Welsh Lib Dems, as a party of decentralisation, will resist any attempts to bring direct political control over FE institutions, in the same way that Edwina Hart has done with the Health service.

"At this difficult time, the Minister should be solely focused on levering as many resources as possible into the sector which is at huge stretch due to recent funding cuts."
