Commenting on the publication of the report into the petition against the demolition of the Vulcan public House in Cardiff City Centre, which recommends tightening of legislation or guidance to protect pubs like the Vulcan, Local AM Jenny Randerson said:
"This report shows clearly that the current listing criteria are not fit for purpose and I fully endorse the Committee's recommendation that the Assembly Government should consider legislating to change this.
"Pubs and buildings like the Vulcan are essential in avoiding the identikit nature of many towns and cities. Cardiff isn't that sort of place, and hopefully things will now be changed so pubs like this are protected.
"The fight will continue. The recommendations of this report, should be taken up by the Assembly Government to allow Central Cardiff and other areas to maintain the right balance of history and development.
